Why are hospital-based emergency rooms always crowded?

When it comes to emergency rooms located in hospitals, it is fairly common to see large crowds and long wait times for treatment. Various factors contribute to this problem, including a shortage of medical professionals, patients receiving emergency care for non-emergency medical conditions, constantly increasing population and even a lack of inpatient beds/space.

How are free-standing emergency rooms different from urgent care centers?

Urgent care centers are designed to provide treatment for patients that do not have or cannot see a primary care manager and are not intended to provide emergency care. Free-standing emergency rooms, on the other hand, are designed to provide emergency medical care and are available 24/7/365.

Do I need to make an appointment?

You never need to make an appointment at Express ER to receive emergency medical care. You can, however, check-in online prior to arriving to ensure you receive immediate care once you arrive.

What if I’m currently experiencing problems with my insurance company?

Texas state law states that insurance providers are REQUIRED to cover emergency medical care. In the event your insurance company has refused to cover your emergency care at Express ER, we recommend filing a grievance with the Texas Department of Insurance right away.
