The schedule is three consecutive days, 7 PM – 7 AM
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in an emergency care setting.
- Current Texas Registered Nurse license (in good standing, without disciplinary actions or investigation).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessment as per policy. (Pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population).
- Use triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients.
- Assess and reassess pain. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques. Educate patient and family regarding pain management.
- Monitor hemodynamic status of the patient and correctly interpret the results.
- Identify dysrhythmias and treat appropriately.
- Perform waived lab testing in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Interpret the results of waived lab tests; take appropriate action on results.
- Ensure correct medication administration based on the age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
- Prepare, hang, monitor and discontinue IV fluids.
- Prepare, administer, monitor and discontinue respiratory treatments.
- Maintain accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
- Assist physicians with procedures.
- Communicate with Emergency Physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
- Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
